Lori Jackson was born an "Indiana Hoosier" and has spent 49 years in Florida - 24 years in the Fort Lauderdale area and 25 years in the Fort Myers area. She has been a Realtor in Southwest Florida since 2009. Prior to becoming a Realtor, Lori worked in the mortgage lending business in the banking industry for 18 years. Lori is Graduate of the Greater Fort Myers Board of Realtors 2014 Leadership Academy. She has earned the coveted Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation, which is considered the nation's number one real estate designation, and may only be earned after successfully completing a rigorous educational program. She has also earned the Accredited Buyer's Representation (ABR®) designation based on her education and actual performance. This designation is awarded by the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council (REBAC) of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR). Lori is a member of the National Association of Realtors, Florida Association of Realtors and the Association of Royal Palm Coast. Lori and her family reside in North Fort Myers. I'd like to share the story of my journey to home ownership. My dream would have never happened without the guidance, skill, perseverance and amazing positive attitude of my realtor, Lori Jackson.
This is not just the story of someone looking for a home. I am 81 years old, and was not blessed with a nest egg or large income. I always knew that finding a home would not be easy. That being said, I had a little bit of hope and I had an unexpected angel in my corner.
I met Lori through a common friend. At the time, I wasn't actually looking for a home, but I remembered Lori from her positive outlook and fun personality. She was always laughing and I remember thinking she would be so much fun to be around.
In late 2021, I unexpectedly had to move in with my son as my rental was being sold. At that point, I began to seriously consider searching for a home. My first thought was that I must have a realtor who absolutely believes in what I want to do. I knew my search would be challenging, especially in what was shaping up to be the hottest sellers' market in southwest Florida history. I called Lori, and she was 100% on board.
We started looking at properties almost immediately. Most were older, had not been properly maintained, and just looked tired. It was almost as if this were the norm. But this didn't deter potential buyers as nearly every property would not only have multiple showings, but would often sell above the asking price. This was terribly demoralizing.
Through it all, Lori never wavered. She always said that if I stayed with it, something would eventually appear. Her confidence was infectious and her positive outlook kept me going in those darkest days.
After months of fruitless searching, Lori told me that the property of a common friend had just been listed for sale. This was a beautiful home I had actually visited, and one which I had referenced in passing to Lori. Unfortunately, it was well out of my price range. Lori said we should speak to my mortgage broker about the home anyway. Lori had introduced me to my mortgage broker shortly after we decided to look for a home. He had always been on board with our search as well.
The broker suggested that perhaps we could use a special financing tool to lower the interest rate of the mortgage, if we could get the seller on board. This would allow the property to fit into my financial window. The numbers seemed to work and with a great deal of trepidation, I placed an offer on the home. To my utter astonishment, two days before Christmas, the seller accepted. What a joyful day!
And now I'm in the process of closing on my very own home. I am so grateful that Lori traveled this journey with me. I could never have found this home without her. I've not just found a home; it is far beyond what I could have dreamed.
Many people in this world are tremendously talented in their work; some know how to motivate, inspire and lead people, and a few know how to build confidence and gain trust. Lori Jackson is one of the very few who possess all of these traits. This was not an easy journey and at times I felt sure it wasn't going to work. But Lori never strayed from her absolute certainty that I would find a home. And now, I am beyond grateful. I am humbled that of all the people in this world who could have helped me, it was the one woman who had every tool needed to make my dream come true. I will be forever grateful to Lori Jackson!
